Wow the light lambs in Ohio are bringing premium prices! Colorado is also stronger as we go into the new year.

December Prices Softer

Across the country it seems that prices are a bit softer than my previous report, but still fairly steady. However, note that the Mt Hope OH Market has some great prices on light lambs. This leads me to believe that there are some specific ethnic holiday buyers in that area.

The markets continue to show a lot of volatility with some classes of lambs doing very well in some areas will others not as well. But overall the Easter market appears to have given a good boost to most markets.

We are seeing considerable volatility in the lamb markets. A little over a week ago, Ft Collins, CO reported a sharp decline attributing it to sluggish movement from the feedlots. This week’s report shows lambs relatively strong coming into the Easter Holiday. Be prepared for more ups and downs.
